About
Me
I'm Madalena Parsons, a second-year PhD student and pre-doctoral instructor at the University of Washinton, Seattle.
I received a BA in classical studies (language intensive) from the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL in June of 2021 and an MA with honors in classics from Durham University in Durham, UK in January of 2023. I wrote both my BA thesis and my MA dissertation on aspects of Ovid's Heroides (narrative form in Her. 12 and legal references in Her. 2, 12, and 14 respectively).
I entered the PhD program at UW in September 2023. I'm still in the early stages (coursework and exams), but I've gotten into trauma theory in the last year or so. I've also been working on a few projects about classical reception and resonances in the Star Trek franchise.

The site
This site has been built using the Bumblebee framework, an open-source blogging framework built for static site hosting (I use Netlify). All assets (scripts, etc.) are hosted on the site itself and I don't have any tracking or analytics active.
The initial M I use as a favicon is a glyph from Dieter Steffman's Aneirin font.
